The White Cross and Merchants are starting a new sister pub venture shortly and are looking for some energetic and experienced staff to join our happy, hardworking team.

Initially, we are looking for a Bar Manager and bar supervisors, but we shall be looking for bar staff in the not too distant future.

Bar Manager

  • We are ideally looking for an individual with experience in managing or running a pub, bar or catering team.
  • You will have exceptional customer service skills, your customers think you are brilliant and you are able to handle any situation calmly and with a smile on your face.
  • You care about and know your products; be it the cask ale, craft beer, wines, spirits or the food on offer.
  • You have lots of energy, ideas, are organised, efficient and enjoy a challenge.
  • You will have confidence and experience in handling busy and occasionally challenging catering environments.
  • You will enjoy serving customers and always want to make sure they leave your pub happy and looking forward to coming back next time.
  • You will have proven experience handling and managing cash and to be responsible for a premises or location.
  • It is essential you have a personal alcohol licence.


Bar supervisors

  • Working with and for the bar manager, you will have responsibility overseeing the smooth and happy running of the pub in their absence.
  • This includes managing a small shift team, dealing with all customer service, managing back of house and the cellar, cash handling and the premises.
  • You will have had experience of bar or other hospitality work and enjoy serving and dealing with customers.
  • It would be beneficial if you have some experience of managing staff and responsibility for other areas of running a bar or pub, such as cellar management, ordering, waiting etc.
  • It is essential you have a personal alcohol licence.
